LION KING MS CASTING

Thank you all for auditioning!! Thank you also to our audition panel who worked tirelessly over the past week and holiday break!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!!  

The Lion King, Jr. is a vibrant ensemble show with cast members CONSTANTLY moving in and out of numbers.  The ensemble is the heart, soul, and star of the show. You all are a vital part of bringing The Lion King, Jr. to life! 

You will definitely enjoy the incredible music, choreography, comedy, a great story—and great stage combat, the percussion ensemble, some puppetry, and amazing dancing, with a powerful message and just plain old-fashioned fun that this show offers.

Prepared to be challenged, this journey to the African Savannah and Pridelands is going to be our most ambitious artistic musical journey yet! 

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING NOTES THOROUGHLY!  THE CAST LIST LINK IS LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST.

• BE AWARE THAT ALL ACTORS  HAVE MORE THAN ONE RESPONSIBILITY IN THE SHOWS!!!! The casts will be placed into Lion Cast and King Cast over the next 4 weeks of rehearsal.
• ​ UNDERSTUDIES ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.
• Several understudy roles will be cast during the first weeks of rehearsals.
• Understudies must memorize lines and be at all rehearsals for the part they are “understudy”-ing! You may be called upon to  go on for actors during dress rehearsals and for the performances...it has happened every year!!! 
• Understudies will also be performing their roles at community events in March.
• We are going to be moving fast—so please treat rehearsal time seriously, and learn your music and lines as soon as possible.
• You ALL are going to be busy—the show moves fast—and we have the challenge of making this ICONIC Broadway musical and animated film come to life. 
• SOME lines, featured solos, ensembles, and featured stage combat, dances,  tumbling, puppetry and extra roles will be assigned during REHEARSALS—it really pays to be at rehearsals working hard and showing off your hard work and commitment! 
• Please trust that you will learn more about your part at rehearsals and DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE IT!—We have cast it to allow everyone to have substantial stage time in which to shine. There is more that what meets the eye on the page of the script books!
• The FIRST MS rehearsal is this Tuesday from 3:30 to 5:30 in the MS Cafeteria for ALL MS CAST & CREW. Thursday is an all MS cast from 3:30 to 5:00. Crew attendance is optional 
• The full rehearsal schedule will be released this week at rehearsal and on the blog under the forms and schedule tab.

MS CASTING UPDATE

Thank you for three tremendous days of auditions. Thank you also for your patience in releasing the cast list for Lion King Jr. We share in your excitement!  We are working hard to expedite a cast list, but also want to take the time to get it right rather than released quickly. Our panel is reviewing the copious amount of notes from our three amazing and intensive days of auditions, as well as each actor’s individual audition forms in which any scheduling conflicts and special skills are noted. The cast list will be posted on the blog on Sunday at noon.  Please spend the Thanksgiving break enjoying your family, friends, and rejuvenating time, and we look forward to our journeys to the “Pride Land” beginning in December!

MS Sunday Callback Information

Good afternoon MS auditioners,

Please click on the link below for tomorrow's schedule of callbacks. (The document is two pages & listed alphabetically by grade).
Lion King MS Callback times for Sunday 11-22-15
Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes in which you can move. No boots please.
Bring your script, water bottle, and snacks/food.

We will be doing a dance call, percussion, ensemble singing, and scene & solo work throughout the day.

You may arrive 15 minutes before your call time to warm up and get settled in for the callback.

Crew may arrive at 10:15 and will stay until 3:30.

CREW REMINDER INFORMATION FOR AUDITIONS & FRIDAY CALLBACKS

Crew reminder:

Crew assisting with auditions tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday may arrive at 8:30am to set up and review instructions and assignments for the day.

Crew may come and stay anytime from 8:30am and 2:30pm tomorrow and 8:30am to 4:00pm (Friday)

Please bring your lunch, snacks, and a drink!

REMINDERS:

• Students may practice their audition skills on the stage during study hall A days Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Please make sure if you are auditioning, you have filled out the online audition form and you have signed up for an audition time.

• AUDITION REMINDERS
• Thursday Individual Auditions
• Crew helping during auditions should arrive no earlier than 8:30
• Please click and check your audition time here: Audition Time Responses
• Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your audition time to sign in, tell the stage manager what you will be doing, and to warm up, set up your songs.
• The Lion King accompaniment cd will be available in the cafeteria to practice to prior to your audition.
• The Lion King accompaniment cd will also be with the stage manager(s) in the gym for you to sing with during your audition
• You will tell the stage manager what songs you are singing and where you would like for your songs to begin and end.
• The Stage managers will read your scene with you if you need another character to read against.
•  CALLBACKS 
• Friday, November 20
• 9:00-12:00 (Callbacks- ALL)
• 12:30-4:30 (Callback Round 2)
• Sunday, November 22
• 10:30-4:30 (Callback Round 3)
• You will be informed if you have been called back for round 3 during the Friday afternoon callback. 
• Students who are called back will not have to attend all of callbacks unless otherwise asked. 
• Students will be dismissed throughout the 12:30-4:30 Friday callback as needed and again after 1:00 on Sunday on a rolling basis. Students are asked to keep their phones on them, so that they may text or call when they have been dismissed from the callback. Students may sit and wait in the gym until their ride can pick them up. All students must be picked up by 4:30 Friday and Sunday. 
• Crew may attend Friday callbacks from 9:00-4:30. 
• 2-4 crew members are needed during Sunday's callback.

A reminder about carpool after LS rehearsals at the Lower School:

• At 4:30 students will be dismissed through the carpool lobby.  Please form a single file line wrapping around the carpool lanes, and please be patient as we dismiss the play and after school program kids at the same time.

If you missed this week's first rehearsal, scripts and Cds may be picked up Monday from Mrs. G in her music room.

REMINDER FIRST LS REHEARSAL TODAY!

The first all LS cast rehearsal is today Wednesday, November 11 from 3:20 to 4:30 in the LS Media Center. We will run a regular carpool at 4:30.

All scripts, CDs and rehearsal schedules will be distributed on Wednesday, November 11^th  at the first rehearsal and the full LS schedules will be posted here on the blog Wednesday as well.  The schedule will be posted this afternoon on the blog.

The Lower School Registration deadline is tomorrow for our LS Lion King participants. Make sure your little lion will be joining us on stage for this amazing experience!

The first all LS cast rehearsal is this Wednesday, November 11 from 3:20 to 4:30 in the LS Media Center. We will run a regular carpool at 4:30.

All scripts, CDs and rehearsal schedules will be distributed on Wednesday, November 11^th  at the first rehearsal and the full LS schedules will be posted here on the blog Wednesday as well.
